 Where do I claim prize money?
If you prize amount is less than $600, it can be claimed at any Montana Lottery retailer, or the Lottery headquarters in Helena. Prizes that are $600 and greater must be claimed a the Lottery Headquarters in Helena.
 
 What taxes are taken out of the prize money?
By law both federal and state taxes will be taken out of prize amounts on certain level of Lottery prizes. U.S. citizens that give their Social Security numbers are required to be withheld 10% state taxes and 25% federal tax from any prize greater than $5,000. %10 state tax on all prizes greater than $5,000 is required by law to be withheld. If a lottery winner does not furnish their Social Security or tax identification number, by law 28% is withheld for federal taxes on any prize greater than $599. Non-residents to the U.S. are withheld 30% for federal taxes on any prize greater than $599.
 
 Who can play the Montana Lottery?
In order to play the Montana you must be 18 years or older to purchase a ticket. All tickets must be purchased from a licenced Montana retailer.
 
 What happens to the prize money that isn't claimed?
Any unclaimed prize money is transferred to the state's General fund.
